She says she knows life is about buttons and bows
The right pose is what shows she loves money
She is somewhat of a fine forget-me-not
She’s got a lot of what's what she loves money
The most I can do
The most I can do
The most I can do
Is tell the truth to you
She’s fine she’s bright excess is her birthright
Her thoughts are trite she loves money
She knows how much it takes to keep in touch
It makes a damned bad crutch to love money
The most I can do
The most I can do
The most I can do
Is tell the truth to you
Now and then she wonders when her youth will tarnish and fade
Fear stands near her interfering with her gasconade
Look out!
Time to spend time without end she’ll buy you friends to applaud you
“I’ll love you and you’ll love me”…
(just so long as I can afford you – big deal…)
she dreams she gleams in self-esteem
she seems supreme she slips down stream
The most I can do
The most I can do
The most I can do
Is tell the truth to you

What's In A Name?
03:57
|
|||
There’s a prison of fear and a great crowd stands here
Milling and thrilling to and fro
“Lead me lead me!” they scream so they can’t hear a thing
Down in the crowd there’s a voice calling loud
And he says
“Turn to the light turn to the light”
But they’ve all got their eyes shut - hands over them;
They’ll see that nothing that way!
There are things going down that are breaking us up
That they don’t even recognise
“God! God! God!” They say “God!” but they don’t believe in Him
“Jesus! Jesus! Christ! Jesus Christ!” they say
But that’s just a noise to make;
Just the sound of a name to be taken in vain and profaned
In a trillion casual blasphemies
We all have a name we are all known by name
We are valued as such
And we matter as we are
And we should not stand for being belittled
So what did Jesus ever do
That entitles us to use His name as a curse?
Can a name be abused for too long
Without end or effect on the abuser?
What’s in a name?
What’s in a name what’s in a name tell me tell me
What’s in a name?
Is what expresses you meaningless
Tell me tell me what’s in a name?
What’s in a name what’s in a name tell me tell me
What’s in a name?
If the name above all names is bought
At the price of flesh and blood
What’s in a name?

Down Here
07:28
|
|||
Life and death are fought out on a screen
Words and pictures jostle there
But are not clearly seen
Selfishness and greed like driven rain
Soak into the pilgrim soul
Prepared to feel pain
Down here…
Samples of the merchandise displayed
The killer’s tools the toys for fools
The thugs love to parade
Expenses in this business world are high
The average plan takes what it can
The rest must do or die
Down here…
Time and time again we’re torn
Between the world we’re longing for
And the one in which we’re born
Oh Lord can’t you magic it alright?
Is there no answer?
“…You say your love stands until the weather breaks
On the other side of the storm
You say it’s mercy that hold judgment back
That love prefers reform
All the promises you make
Are met in the bread we break
It’s a cross-road onto which your shadow falls
Your love’s not cheap at all…
You say we see you in the Servant Kind
In whose sufferings we are healed
You say we need turn around and see
The love we seek revealed
If we’ll lower the shield of lies
If we’ll drop all our disguise
You have shed forgiveness
Life-blood for us all
Your love’s not cheap at all
Desire to share must proclaim what is missed
The promise of Your full embrace
For all who had You kissed
However often this worlds lies are told
The power of Your promises still holds
They make bold
They comfort and empower us
Where garbage sells as gold
Down here…

Smile
02:04
|
|||
You say you must wear a frown the whole day
Because the world is in such a mess
You say you feel that it’s the least you can do
Solidarity shown with those who have less
Come on and smile, smile for me
Break your face open space no disgrace
Come on and smile…
I’ll tell you friend you’re not helping anybody
With your long grey face and your knotted brow
The hungry and poor the outcast and the lonely
Need your miserable mug like a broken plough
Come on and smile, smile for me
Make my day what d’you say don’t delay
Come on and smile…
Live your life yes and give your life yes and
Don’t go closing your eyes
Fight for justice and work for peace
But remember joy is the price
Come on and smile, smile for me
Don’t be shy let it fly give it a try
Come on and smile, smile for me
Now’s the time the perfect clime
It is no crime
For you to smile…

Dayspring
06:37
|
|||
I don’t want to just chatter economics
I want to talk about worth
I don’t want to just fiddle with your old life
I want to bring a new birth
I don’t want to just gossip on the telephone
I want to speak to your soul
I don’t want to just nibble at the details baby I
I want to swallow you whole
Words from the Dayspring
Words of new life for you and me
I don’t want to just run round the same track again
I want to see something new
I don’t want to just die amidst my old obsessions
Let me be born into you
I know that I’ve not exactly made
a success of loving
Too often played the wrong part
Let your river run deep let your river run clean
Let your river run straight and true into my heart
Words to the Dayspring
Words of new life for you and me

The Waking Dawn
21:24
|
|

1: THE CITY ASLEEP
In the darkness dreams a city
Lit up here and there with flames
Where some sleepers have been set alight by a name
It’s a city huge and callous yet on occasions beautiful
And it feels it little children with regret
As a whole it turns and tosses, restless and rebuked
For it tried to swallow One who rose again
Now it waits for its own ending, refusing proffered grace
Its vast foundations will be routed out
It is terminal city
Its ways are paved with fashions that appeal to wilful fools
And all of us within it feel the pull
In its glittering and squawking
It attempts to drown the call
Of the still small voice of He who will outlast
The sounds of Terminal City
The dreams of Terminal City
2: “THE CITY DREAMS…”
i) Madmen
Give us a world we’ll screw it up
Give us a truth we’ll twist it
Give us resources we’ll throw ‘em away
Give us a week we’ll use it in one day
Madmen
Give us an inch we’ll take a mile
Give us your tears we’ll see ‘em and smile
Give us your poor and needy we’ll create breadlines
Give us your weaknesses we’ll print headlines
Madmen
Give us a chance we’ll waste it
Show us forbidden fruit we’ll taste it
Give us a gravy train baby we’ll drive it off the rails
Give us a friend and Saviour we’ll hang ‘im up with nails
ii) The Waking Dawn
The day will come when the beating drum
Of the call to war will beat no more
A day will rise into clear new skies
A day of perfect peace, complete release
And I want to see that morning
more than anything I know
And I pray we’ll be together
in the waking dawn
THE TRUE VINE LINE – LIVING BREAD AND WINE – POURING OUT THE PROMISE UNTIL DAWN – AND A DAWN CHORUS…
3: INTO THE WAKING DAY
All the hopes and nightmares over
The Waking dawn arrived
The sleepers roused and brought into the day
The insubstantial city all wrapped up
and blown away
Reality’s great capital revealed
The throne of life bright blazing
The grip of death destroyed
The life of all life plain for all to see
Eternal songs of gladness are all that can be heard
The truth unveiled as greater than all dreams
In the Waking Dawn…

This Is Your Doing
03:14
|
|||
Moth at the window – perfect detail
Star like a diamond – one of a million million
Eternity meets both ends of the scale
This is your doing and it’s wonderful to see
This is your doing and it’s alright with me…
Unaware drifting on a monochrome sea
Your love hit the prism and colours started forming
It’s what I was made for – knowing you knowing me
This is your doing and it’s wonderful to see
This is your doing and it’s alright with me…
I was dreaming a dream – it was all that I knew
It all seemed so real I thought it was true
But I have been waking and I’m beginning to see
What has always been around me
Carbons and concrete trouble and pain
Can never extinguish your persistent glory
A love in creation no two the same
Each one in a million you know by name…
This is your doing and it’s wonderful to see
This is your doing and it’s alright with me…
This is your doing and it’s wonderful to see
This is your doing and it’s alright with me…
