Geoff Mann: “aware is a funny word, different things to different people…the flow of fact and fiction that reaches us through the media can easily have quite opposite effects upon the heart and mind to the ones it is apparently meant to have - that of numbing instead of sensitivity, homogenising instead of broadening it. It’s easy to see so much evil in the world that we become blunt and unable to act against it, for even conscience is useless without guidance from a spirit of truth and compassion.”
lyrics
Welcome, welcome
First today to see the creepshow
Come see the exhibits, but do not touch
They cannot bear touch, here in the creepshow
Please do not hang back
It's hard enough to show people around
The creepshow, the creepshow
First, here on the rack strapped, a child's virgin mind
We see the careful white-coats
Affix their machines veins to the pulsing neck side
Checking dials they monitor reaction
She must love her daddy's banker
She must love her daddy's banker
For her part in the creepshow, the creepshow
Amanda, so sad, Amanda …
But let's brush over sadness, give her the pills and diagnose madness, madness
Give her, give her, Amanda? Amanda!
Anymore for any more? No!
Cyril Has-Or-Might-Have-Been must fill his lust
They let him bayonet robots as his morning constitutional
To sate his rage unless he feels his age
We can't have that!
Sometimes he'll watch a war-film
On the moron machine in the corner of his cell
Lost in time, lost in minds
Cyril writhes like smoke
His bigot's eyes are slashed skin
Their expression none the nicer for being blank
Amanda, still mad. Amanda, still sad...
"And so ladies and gentlemen,
We come to the nerve centre of the whole affair.
As you will see, it is a mirror.
To some it is the mirror of dreams,
Where every passion, desire and action flit through the still spaces behind its surface,
Tantalising yet distant.
Of these many stand before it until death.
To others, it is distorting,
Everything in it being warped and buckled by fear,
Yet perceived as reality.
These will cringe before it, wimpering and immobile,
Though a few batter their skulls against the dull sheen
Attempting to smash the horrors they believe are in the glass or at least attain oblivion, whichever comes first.
Some see just a mirror, whilst some see what at first appears to be their own image, which, however, moves them saying
'COME ON, WAKE UP!
WHO'S RUNNING THIS SHOW ANYWAY?'"
Now, It's up to you
Use your free will
You decide, yes you! you! you decide
Whether or not you will return
For if you come again
You'd better bring your ball and chain
Unguided embittered attraction of
The creepshow
The creepshow
The creepshow

I remember the excitement when The Sentinel was released having seen the band live a few times before. I loved the album but was aware that there were tracks missing and it had been rumoured that it was to be a double album. To hear all these takes and works in progress takes me right back to the 80's and the buzz of all the new prog that was coming out back then. This is an absolutely essential purchase for any Pallas fan. nuttinikki

The first official outing of the "what would be" Steve Rothery Band. Riccardo Romano was missing with his keyboard wizardry and no singer at all (later Martin Jakubsky of Stillmarillion). Marillion's catalogue was represented by excerpts of instrumental sections where Steve had his solo spot. This is a milestone in the forming of a great band that later became the spokesman of early Marillion era and of course of Steve's solo material. If you want to hear how it all started you have to get this Alessandro Carmassi
