The earliest recordings of the band. The SKAN demo (tracks 1-5) was recorded in an empty hall at Reading University in March 1979 using a PA hired in specially from a company called SKAN, hence the name of the demo. A remarkable performance from a trio of musicians (Andy, Brian and Clive), played live with no overdubs!
Tracks 6 & 7 were recorded at Multium Studios in Wokingham nine months later and were the studio tracks included on the band's first tape album. By this time the band were a quartet as Rick had since joined the group

I remember the excitement when The Sentinel was released having seen the band live a few times before. I loved the album but was aware that there were tracks missing and it had been rumoured that it was to be a double album. To hear all these takes and works in progress takes me right back to the 80's and the buzz of all the new prog that was coming out back then. This is an absolutely essential purchase for any Pallas fan. nuttinikki

I absolutely LOVE Dark Matter and think it is one of PT's best early tracks that holds up to even their best work in the early 2000s, and this particular live performance is sublime! kilimajaro
